Mui Wo Face Lift Stage 1 A & B – Temporary Bicycle Parking

LIM has been advised by the project construction team that the MWFL construction works will start in-mid September.

The first step will be to move the majority of the bicycle parking racks from the North Side of the Pier entrance to temporary accommodation on the South Waterfront, to the side of the China Bear and diagonally opposite McDonalds.

These slides illustrate this. The move should be completed by the end of October.

The subsequent step will be the creation of a new cargo loading/unloading wharf and commercial vehicle parking area on the other side of the waterfront, on the site of the old cement batching plant (now demolished).

This should completed by the end of the year. The main part of the Southern Waterfront (currently used for parking of commercial vehicles) will be repurposed for further temporary bicycle parking and temporary private car parking.

Early next year, construction work on the new cooked food market and bus terminus will commence in the vacated areas in front of the Ferry Pier.

Artist’s impressions and further details of this phase of the project can be found on the government website at Improvement Works at Mui Wo (facelift-muiwo.com)  (Phase 2 Stage 2 Works).

We will provide further details of these next steps in due course. As ever we will try to answer any questions you may have.
